Our Team

We Understand Because We’ve Lived It

At the Adult Autism Assessment Center, this work is personal.

More than 3 of 4 of our clinicians are neurodivergent, and everyone has a close connection to neurodivergence, either personally or through family.

We know what it’s like to feel different. To mask. To wonder why things feel harder than they should.

That’s why we’re here—to help our community.

You won’t get judgment.

You’ll get people who get it.

And while lived experience matters, so does training. Our team is highly trained and backed by a rich library of tools and resources.

We combine heart and science—so you get answers that actually help.

How Our Team Is Trained

Most therapy practices that "specialize in neurodiversity" have one or two clinicians with an interest. We're built differently.

Every person on this team is here because neurodiversity is the work — not a sideline. That shows up in five ways.

We live it.

More than three out of four of our clinicians are themselves neurodivergent — autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, PDA, or highly sensitive. The rest have neurodivergent partners, children, parents, or close colleagues. Our coworkers are neurodivergent. Our families are neurodivergent. When we say we understand what it's like to mask, to burn out, to be missed by the system, to wonder for years before something finally makes sense — we mean that personally. This isn't an area we picked up at a weekend workshop. It's the world we live in, every day, and have for years.

We study it.

Our team draws on an internal training library we've built over years — training videos, clinical protocols, case discussions, articles, and reference materials specifically about adult neurodiverse assessment. Every clinician on the team gets up to speed on this material as they come on board, and the more experienced members keep coming back to it as the field evolves. Neurodiversity research moves quickly. So do we.

We collaborate.

Our team meets regularly to compare notes on cases, share new research, and refine how we work. Almost every conversation on our team eventually circles back to neurodiversity, because it's what we think about most. When something interesting comes up in one of our sessions, the rest of the team usually hears about it within days. The result is a kind of accumulated, peer-shared expertise that doesn't exist when clinicians work in isolation.

We are immersed.

This level of immersion is hard to manufacture quickly. The clinical tools we use for formal assessment — the MIGDAS-2 and SRS-2 for autism, the CAARS-2 and Brown EF/A Scales for ADHD, the SPM-2 for sensory work, and others — are widely available. Many practices use them. The harder thing to find is a team that has spent years thinking about neurodiversity, clinically and personally, and that brings all of that to every assessment.

We innovate.

And when we couldn't find tools that fit the work we were doing, we built them. Several of our screeners — including those for autistic burnout, rejection sensitivity dysphoria, the highly sensitive person, and autistic sexual intimacy — were developed in-house by our team. They're now used by clients on this site every day.

Every in-depth report is reviewed by Dr. Harry Motro, LMFT, PsyD, founder and clinical director of AAA, before it goes out.
